Ultralight – Comfortable – Versatile

The Coffey Chair was designed as a true backpacking chair.   It provides a very relaxing backcountry camp experience at an  ultralight weight.  From the ergonomics of the sling, to its ability to support you in snow, every part of the chair is designed with a backpacker’s requirements in mind.

Backpacking Chair

Coffey Chair Story

The Coffey Chair sprung from a backpacking trip to the Grand Tetons National Park. While camped next to a sub-alpine lake, we admired the jagged Tetons and absorbed the sun. Armed with some books and drinks, we looked about for a place to comfortably sit.  After finding only rocks and logs to relax on, I decided to make a chair that backpackers could use. The Coffey Chair is the result; a packable, lightweight, and perfectly relaxing seat.

Coffey Chair Features

The Coffey Chair is designed to replicate the relaxing ergonomics of the classic Adirondack chair.  The chair is based around a hammock-like sling that shapes to your body. The chair’s backrest poles will pivot to adjust to your sitting position. It provides full support whether you sit upright to adjust the simmer on your stove, or you recline to enjoy the view.

Versatile

Designed with a removable backrest, the Coffey Chair allows you to choose a chair configuration that best fits your weight and comfort needs. The chair can be set up by two different methods:

Using the optional Backrest Poles
OR
Using your own trekking poles

Using trekking poles allows small adjustments in pole length, which change the ergonomics of the chair.   Longer poles provide a more upright feel, while shorter poles work well for reclining.

The Coffey Chair is designed for minimum weight.  The chair’s innovative design allows it to weigh only 16 ounces.   You shouldn’t have to choose between a light pack and a  comfortable camp.

Coffey Chair FAQ
I’m confused about the backrest poles, are they part of the chair? Why are they sold separately?2023-04-18T21:52:51+00:00

In order to minimize weight and maximize versatility, the Coffey Chair is designed with a backrest that is separate from the rest the chair framework. The chair can be set up with either your trekking poles or with backrest poles. Users who regularly hike with trekking poles may prefer the weight and cost savings of using their trekking poles as the chair’s backrest. Users who don’t use trekking poles, or who aren’t concerned with a few extra ounces of weight, can purchase the backrest poles to use with their chair.
